While brushing and flossing are essential to your long-term dental health, so are routine checkups and cleanings with a dentist. With regular preventive dental care here at TrueCare Dentistry, Dr. Rana can make sure a little problem doesn’t have the chance to turn into a big one, saving you countless dollars and hours in the dental chair in the process. These dentistry services are great for patients of all ages, and they’ll ensure you and your entire family have strong, healthy smiles year after year.
Dental checkups and cleanings are designed to do two main things: help us find dental problems during their earliest stages and stop many from developing in the first place. To accomplish this, Dr. Rana will take a close look at your teeth, gums, jaw, bite, and existing dental work to make sure everything is in good shape. If he finds a problem, he can recommend a treatment that will take care of it right away. And with a dental cleaning, one of our hygienists will use sophisticated tools to remove stubborn plaque and tartar deposits from your teeth, targeting those areas your brush and floss can’t reach at home.
Did you know that the health of your gums is just as important as your teeth? It’s true! The gums provide valuable support and protection for the teeth, and without proper care, they can easily develop an infection called periodontal disease. Early symptoms are slight redness and tenderness, but it can eventually lead to loose teeth and ultimately tooth loss! With dedicated periodontal screenings and a deep cleaning called scaling and root planing, we can prevent this pesky problem from harming your smile.
We just love serving entire families here at TrueCare Dentistry, and that includes Mesquite’s littlest smiles! When you bring your child to see us, our team will do everything they can to ensure their comfort so they immediately form a positive relationship with dentistry. We have a number of kid-friendly services that are perfect for growing smiles, and we’ll also take the time to educate them about the basics of home dental care so they form healthy habits right away.
A dental sealant is truly a wonder of modern-day dentistry, enabling Dr. Rana to literally place a thin, invisible barrier over a tooth to protect it from cavity-causing plaque, bacteria, and acids. Sealants are made of a BPA-free plastic-based substance that is applied to the teeth as a liquid, and it quickly hardens into place. We mostly use them on the vulnerable back teeth, as these are the most susceptible to developing cavities (especially for children who are still learning how to brush).
Bruxism is a condition where a person clenches their jaw and grinds their teeth while they sleep, and it’s actually more common than you might think. The latest research estimates that about 1 in 3 people experience at least a mild form of it! If you consistently wake up with a sore jaw or your teeth look like they’ve been worn down flat, Dr. Rana can give you a nightguard to wear to bed. It is a small oral appliance that fits over the teeth to prevent any harmful contact during the night.
Fluoride is a mineral you’ll find added to many toothpastes and community water sources. Decades of research has shown that regular exposure is an easy way to drastically lower a person’s chances of developing cavities, particularly for children. However, more and more people aren’t getting enough every day to keep their smile fully protected, which is why a fluoride treatment is always included with our routine checkups. We simply apply a highly-concentrated fluoride solution to the teeth for a minute or so, and that’s it! It’s one of the easiest and simplest ways to keep a person cavity-free year after year.
Although not as commonly talked about as breast or prostate cancer, oral cancer can have deadly consequences, and it can affect more than just smokers and heavy drinkers. At TrueCare Dentistry, we include an oral cancer screening with every dental checkup we do to ensure that we catch it during the early stages of development, when treatment is much easier and typically more successful. Your oral and overall health are worth this small step that could save your life!
