Dental Checkups & Cleanings

Dental checkups and cleanings are designed to do two main things: help us find dental problems during their earliest stages and stop many from developing in the first place. To accomplish this, Dr. Rana will take a close look at your teeth, gums, jaw, bite, and existing dental work to make sure everything is in good shape. If he finds a problem, he can recommend a treatment that will take care of it right away. With a dental cleaning, one of our hygienists will use sophisticated tools to remove stubborn plaque and tartar deposits from your teeth, targeting those areas your brush and floss can’t reach at home.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Bruxism is a condition where a person clenches their jaw and grinds their teeth while they sleep, and it’s actually more common than you might think. The latest research estimates that about 1 in 3 people experience at least a mild form of it! If you consistently wake up with a sore jaw or your teeth look like they’ve been worn down flat, Dr. Rana can give you a nightguard to wear to bed. It is a small oral appliance that fits over the teeth to prevent any harmful contact during the night.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a mineral you’ll find added to many toothpaste brands and community water sources. Decades of research have shown that regular exposure is an easy way to drastically lower a person’s chances of developing cavities, particularly for children. However, more and more people aren’t getting enough every day to keep their smile fully protected, which is why fluoride treatment is always included with our routine checkups. We simply apply a highly concentrated fluoride solution to the teeth for a minute or so, and that’s it! It’s one of the easiest and simplest ways to keep a person cavity-free year after year.

TMJ/TMD Treatment

When the temporomandibular joints (TMJs) are inflamed or damaged, it can cause immense pain that radiates throughout the neck, head, jaw, and mouth. As a result, performing normal daily tasks (i.e., eating, focusing on work, speaking, etc.) can become more difficult. With specialized TMJ/TMD treatment, like equilibration, though, our team can diagnose the problem and develop an effective way to address misaligned bites, teeth grinding, or other underlying issues that are often triggers for TMJ.
