How Do FastBraces® Work?

At first glance, FastBraces® look very similar to traditional metal braces. However, if you look closely, you’ll see that the brackets are different. Traditional braces use square brackets, which help them to first reposition the roots of the teeth and then the crowns. On the other hand, FastBraces® has triangular brackets connected by a single wire. This unique structure allows FastBraces® to move the roots and crowns of teeth simultaneously, giving patients faster results.

Who Should Consider FastBraces®?

The best way to know if FastBraces® is right for you is to visit us for a consultation! We’ll take a close look at your teeth and jaws to determine if this orthodontic solution is the most effective way to achieve the healthy smile you deserve. While patients with complex orthodontic issues may need a different treatment, FastBraces® can be a great choice for teenagers and adults who suffer from problems like:

Overcrowded Teeth

Gap between the front teeth

Teeth that are too close together create a bevy of issues. Not only do they distract from your smile, but they put you at a higher risk of oral health issues like cavities and gum disease. FastBraces® can realign your pearly whites so they have the space they need.

Gapped Teeth

Too much space between two or more teeth can be just as much of an issue. These gaps between teeth can catch plaque and bacteria, and they can make you feel self-conscious about your smile. FastBraces® will guide your teeth into their ideal positions to give you uniform results.

Bite Issues

Problems like overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite can give your appearance a lopsided look. More importantly, bite issues can lead to chronic pain, wear and tear on the teeth, and even lead to complicated jaw problems like TMJ disorder. Fortunately, we can help you achieve a healthier bite with FastBraces®.

Caring for Your FastBraces®

It’s no secret that it can be difficult to floss and brush around metal wires and brackets. Unfortunately, this can put you at a significantly higher risk of oral health issues like tooth decay, gum disease, and more, which can hinder your orthodontic progress! That’s why it’s essential to take care of your teeth properly while completing FastBraces® treatment by:

  • Using a specialized flosser to clean between your teeth and FastBraces®
  • Rinsing with an ADA-approved mouthwash regularly
  • Avoiding hard, crunchy, or sticky foods that could damage your FastBraces®
  • Wearing a mouthguard to protect your FastBraces® as you sleep or play sports
  • Visiting us regularly for checkups and cleanings

FastBraces® FAQs

Do you have questions about FastBraces® in Mesquite that you’d like answered before you take the first step and schedule a consultation with our team at TruCare Dentistry? We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions that we’ve received below, along with our answers. If you don’t see the answers you are looking for, please don’t hesitate to call us!

Will a tooth extraction be necessary before I can get FastBraces®?

Whether you require a tooth extraction before you receive orthodontic treatment, regardless of what type of appliance you get, will depend on your unique situation. If you experience overcrowding because there’s not enough room in your mouth for all of your teeth, it could cause them to revert to their original positions after treatment.

To keep this from happening and make sure your investment in FastBraces® is worthwhile, we may recommend extracting one or more teeth before undergoing treatment. However, we’ll discuss this with you during your consultation.

Are FastBraces® uncomfortable?

One great benefit of FastBraces® is that their brackets are smooth, meaning they’re less likely to irritate the inside of your lips or damage your soft tissues. However, it’s important to have realistic expectations of the process and understand that any new appliance in your mouth is sure to feel uncomfortable and strange at first. After wearing them for a few weeks, they’ll begin to feel like a natural extension of you!

Will I need a retainer after FastBraces®?

Your teeth have a type of muscle memory that can cause them to drift back into their original positions if you don’t wear a retainer after any orthodontic treatment. That’s why we will craft a customized retainer for you after you’ve achieved your results. The amount of time that you’ll need to wear it will depend on your unique situation, which we’ll discuss with you before giving you your retainer.

Are FastBraces® safe?

FastBraces® are safe. They’re a patented system invented by an orthodontist named Dr. Anthony Viazis. They are only intended to be used on milder to moderate orthodontic cases and aren’t designed to treat severe overcrowding or bite problems. Our team can let you know if you’re a good candidate for treatment once we’ve had an opportunity to examine your mouth.
